Germany tells Cameron he WON'T be able to renegotiate Britain's EU relationship
Gunther Krichbaum, one of German chancellor Angela Merkel's closet allies, has poured cold water on Mr Cameron's hope of achieving his stated desire of EU reform. Mr Krichbaum, head of the country's committee on EU affairs, was backed by other senior German politicians. Last week, Mr Cameron said he would insist on the UK no longer being bound by the EU's principle of "ever closer union" – one of the core principles of its rulebook. Cameron has more clout than he realises; or perhaps he DOES realise it, but won't use it. For one thing is certain. If the UK pulls out of the E.U., that will be the beginning of the end of the EU as it is today. They know that only too well, and if only the gauleiters could be persuaded to believe that Cameron will actually walk out unless he gets meaningful reform, they will suddenly become much more accommodating.
The trouble is; Cameron doesn't have the bottle. He will NOT play his trump card, as he is at heart a committed European. So my forecast is that he will negotiate, and be given a few meaningless crumbs that he will immediately trumpet as resounding concessions. There will then be a referendum, and the gullible Brits will support him. Plus ca change.......

Plus ca change....... “Gullible Brits “ sums us up the average Britain perfectly Give them a “few meaningless crumbs “ and they will vote however you want them to , without giving any thought to the wider implications
