I wonder if spats will make a comeback? In the 1970’s in Liverpool there was a gentleman’s bar there frequented by members of the legal profession. There was one elderly lawyer who used to come in dressed in court dress. He wore a bowler hat, a winged collar and spats.
Did we not quite recently see the basque revived? I wonder if the bussle will come back into ladies fashion again.

Reminds me of a story I heard a few decades ago when I was in the Civil Service.
A rather arrogant young fellow was promoted , he was bad before his promotion but afterwards he became insufferable and to cap it all he bought a Bowler Hat which he thought heightened his position.
A couple of colleagues decided to bring him down a peg or two so they bought two identical Bowlers but one was a size too large, the other was a size too small. The wrote his name inside the hat-band in Indian ink exactly as the original and they switched the hats around.
You can imagine the agony and the anguish the chap suffered, arriving at work with an exceedingly tight fitting hat but when departure time came, the hat was very loose on the head and only infrequently, did it fit properly.
This went on for some months until he had a nervous breakdown !
The perpetrators kept quiet for some time but eventually one of them blurted out the story, I laughed myself !
