It was a cracking Christmas Day for BBC chiefs as Wallace and Gromit won the biggest television audience of the year with 14.3million viewers. The plasticine figures’ latest epic, A Matter of Loaf and Death, beat EastEnders and The Royle Family in the ratings, figures showed yesterday.
But it was a bleak day for ITV with only Coronation Street squeezing into the Top 10.
Wallace and Gromit’s half-hour animated adventure, screened at the 8.30pm prime time slot, attracted the highest Christmas Day ratings for five years. ]
