One of the things I do to make ironing less of a chore (yes, I do the family's ironing), is to make up compilation tapes that I can listen to whilst travelling on/ to and from work.
It struck me whilst doing the last one, how many good British acts there have been in the last couple of years or so - more than for almost 30 years.
What with Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Sandi Thom, KT Tunstall, The Editors and Goldfrapp, there seems more talent round now than for ages. Great stuff.

I have to admit that i have never heard of any of them Pity. You've missed some good music. KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" is a really good song, well performed. Same is true of a lot of the Kaiser Chief's numbers - "Born to be a Dancer" and "Time Honoured Tradition" are two of my favourites, and display an (unexpected?) variety of styles. Sandi Thom has a wonderful voice - listen to the first verse of "Punkrocker", which is sung a capella.
