A sort of long winded post. Consider yourself suitably warned. Looking at the education system of today one cannot help but notice that the spirit of learning is dying a slow death. What will the future hold for the children brought up in an environment where dumbing down of core scientific subjects is more the norm than an exception? Those that are bright enough will excel in Mathematics and Science. But, shouldn't the goal of education be, to inspire and instill even in those students whose bent of mind is not predisposed to Scientific riguour? How are inventors, discoverers and researchers - who have far reaching positive effects on life as we know it- gojng to be produced in the class rooms? Is the spirit to unravel the many mysteries that lay hidden, disappearing? The hunger to learn - not just get straight A(s) (not that it is bad !)- to find out the how and why of all things, is a now a rare commodity. Sad.

J Not a long winded post at all But one that talks a lot of sense and with I can find nothing to disagree I dread to think Yes but that will only come about if we have the very best teachers Again my answer is that will only come about if we have the very best teachers

Yes, I do agree with you that excellent teachers are the key to good education and to inspire students in their quest for knowledge.

Toby comments.:- The best Teachers nowadays seem to be in Private Schools. When you see the Leftoid dross masquerading as Teachers in our schools then you want to give up. My Niece came home from school and when I glanced through her work I found the Teacher was teaching, that Germany started WW2. I put the niece right and told her to be very careful because her Teacher was unsound, she told her friends this and they all started using the Internet to check on what they were being taught !

In that case, Toby you need to put right these as well. Hitler started World War 2 when he invaded Poland.
Hitler was not a man of his word and in March 1939 invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia. Despite calls for help from the Czechoslovak government, neither Britain nor France was prepared to take military action against Hitler. However, some action was now necessary and believing that Poland would be Hitler's next target, both Britain and France promised that they would take military action against Hitler if he invaded Poland. Chamberlain believed that, faced with the prospect of war against Britain and France, Hitler would stop his aggression. Chamberlain was wrong. German troops invaded Poland on 1st September 1939.
I think most people in Britain and Europe would agree with the said school teacher. Perhaps he/she was only doing his job to the best of his knowledge and ability. Unless you are prepared to try to change all history school books across Britain, you might be fighting a losing battle. Regards. Prashna
