Today for a change we started the day of sunny, but still not that warm as it struggles to get above 17C by day and down to 10-12C most nights. I took a bus from Kendal to Lancaster that takes you through the villages not down the M6. It is a lovely journey and it truly was a glimpse of England’s green and pleasant land at its best. The sheep and cows were grazing in the fields and the farmers were mowing their fields of golden corn and there was hardly any traffic to be seen on the way. I was looking out of the bus window as the bus slowed a little and there on the right hand side of the road was a big circular sign that read “Welcome to Lancashire. The county where everybody natters. I am not sure if it originally said “matters” and some wag had been busy with a paint brush, but it gave me a chuckle.

At least they didn't also change the "a" to a "u". Sounds like you had a lovely day.

Yes I did have a lovely day maggie thank you. It was one of the few sunny days that I have had since I arrived here three weeks ago. I am going back to near perpertual sunshine next week in Malaysia so I mustn't complain.

I am going back to near perpertual sunshine next week in Malaysia so I mustn't complain. There's been holiday adverts on TV recently which advertise holidays in Malaysia. I must say, it looks beautiful!

It is beautiful maggie and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to live there. I live on a very lovely island among very lovely people. The island is 90% Muslim and the other 10% are a mix of ethnic Chinese and Indian. The group I hang around with are a mix of all of them. They all get on well together. They are kind and gentle people with good manners. They treat me like a loveable old uncle. If I am missing from their company for a day, they call me on the phone or come round to my place to make sure that I am OK. I thank God that he has made it possible for me to live there in my retirement years.
I have friends who come out to stay in the UK winter months and every one them have expressed how sad they were when it came time for them to leave. When they say to me “You don’t know how lucky you are, I reply, yes I do. I am very aware how lucky I am and I am very grateful to the Government of Malaysia for letting me live here.
