Yoda
I've had several holidays on the Broads, and had tremendous fun! Only thing is, you need to be sure that those you go with are those you love - and you should also check that any couples who come along are not about to embark upon a week-long domestic!
Mind you - quite fancy the idea of playing pirates - perhaps Old Sea Dog can teach us a few tricks? Bags I walk the plank (I always was a masochist!)

Look at the fun people want to have. lezlee wants to walk the plank,OSD and Expat want to come along as well. Rosie wants to be on her own and Catfish is off with his bent nails and poles catching minows. Canals have something for everyone.

I'll even offer to be Galley Slave - as long as OSD can be First Mate!

Well shiver me timbers we have a crew!
We'll have Old Sea Dog on the water again as first mate and gate opener, lezlee in the galley keeping the tea and coffee going and Captain Yoda bring up the rear.

Er, since it's getting interesting now, I think I'll join you. But only if Lez is a good cook - and I must insist on a very soft bed with no snorers in the vicinity. Is there a proper loo on board? Reading lamp next to my bed? Mosquito netting?

Rosie, you can only join now if you walk the plank when told.
I can't wait for the photos to go on the board!!!!!!!

You can have me keelhauled and you can have me flogged but remember :-
Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excit me!

Back off sir, I would warn you that Yoda is a friend of mine, and what is more I have my own personal windlass

Norma ( AKA Gas Street Basin Lil. ) is the only woman I know who has her own windlass. So automatically she has a place. This will be opening the gates with OSD.
Rosie, will probably bring all her books with her and try to userp the rest of the crew into doing all her tasks.
I will be at the stern wiggling the handle that controls the thing.

Yoda, I'm getting all nostalgic here. By handle I presume you mean the tiller, what do you call the gear lever that controls the (Perkins?) engine? I suppose gear lever is good enough Love the roses and castles, lace and the pierced plates, but I'm not coming if I have the clean the brass.

No polishing on my trips. If you have any energy left after doing the locks, it's for the drinking contest.

I thought that most of the narrowboat 'Donks' were either Petters or Listers. A 'Perk' seems a bit big for a Donk, unless they make small singles and twins specifically for the purpose.

I think I'd rather have a perk than a donk, OSD - sounds more fun. Oh, and bags I the pointy end, to sit on a squidgy cushion drinking G&T at sunset (after I've escaped from the galley). ...
reminds me of a song ... "What shall we do with the drunken sailor..." Some of the suggestions were quite evil - 'put him in the scuppers with the hosepipe on him', 'tie him to the taffrail while the yardarm's under'
... any other bright ideas from the rest of the crew? (Just to make sure we keep discipline on board, you understand).
