For me it's literature, cooking (and eating!) and gardening. They say when a woman reaches an "interesting" age, she turns to God or gardening.

I have too many hobbies to mention, and they range from cars, to books (I collect antiquarian books) to colecting all and sundry from pens to guns to antiques and about anything interesting, to advanced, very advanced, DIY, to making things to reading, to novel writing, model making, to whatever and that includes work and business.
I tend not to take days off and never take holidays.

I like building them, Saara likes painting them I intend to this year buy the model of Victory from Caldercraft...a huge model that costs 650 odd quid just for the bits! Always wanted to do one and now that I can afford it...I'm having one ;D Just bought a load of car models from eBay to go with my latest car acquisition, and I might get a biggish one to build and paint too. I don't play PS2 or anything, but the odd hour here and there online with Enemy Territory is good fun ;D

I am a craftsman, ahem...I am...lol, so shouldn't have much trouble with it except for the time.

How marvellous, Pondgirl! It will mean blood, sweat and tears, but all worth it in the end.

No, we don't have any friends out there yet although we have become friendly with a few people over there. Plus most of our friends over here want to come and visit to help with the olives, wine etc so I don't think we'll be lonely. PG

hi Pondy, good to see you over here. Like your style, we've always done some housing development as an aside to our normal business and I have tried to persaude my wife that the next move is to look for somewhere in Spain, shes dead against it. We like to get over there on holiday a couple of times a year and she just likes the idea of the old package holiday, having everything done for us.
My youngest (19) son is in the construction trade, so maybe he and I will look for a venture in a few years time.
Have you read the book 'Driving over Lemons'? it's a good insight into living in rural Spain.
We have lived abroad on a few occasions and have always missed Britain, but we lived further afield, easy enough to jump on a cheap flight home from Spain to see folks.
Hope it all goes without problems for you. It looks like a great place you're buying. Hope to hear from you on these boards when you get there.
Vic.

If I've ever got a bit of money knocking about, one of my hobbies is collecting original cartoons - modern ones. Private Eye, for instance, will tell you how to get in touch with their cartoonists and their work is sometimes surprisingly cheap. If I was REALLY well off, I'd love to buy some of this stuff: www.chrisbeetles.com/pictures/illustration_cartoon.htm

Rog, you have to be very careful of what you buy. Try to stick to well know artists like Searle etc.
The other thing is that when you buy a cartoon, the paper or board it is drawn on might be non acid free therefore there is a problem with the longevity of the mount.
Never let them be subjected to bright light unless you are using museum spec. glass.
Insure accordingly.
